Underfloor Heating Screed and Insulated Floors
Most of the floors we lay go over underfloor heating. The screed has to cover the pipes at the right depth and sit tight around them, so the heat comes through evenly and the floor stays flat.

Getting underfloor heating screed right
- Right depth over the pipes for your system
- No air gaps around the pipes
- Edge strip round the walls so the floor can expand
- A level finish ready for your floor covering
Liquid screed and sand and cement screed both work well over underfloor heating. We'll recommend one based on your floor size, timeline and floor covering.
Insulated floors and bead screed insulation
We also do the floor preparation underneath, including bead screed, so the floor build-up is right before the screed goes down. Insulated floor screed keeps ground floors warm and stops heat being lost into the ground.
Working with your plumber
Once the pipes are down and pressure tested, we pour. We're used to working around plumbers and builders on site, so the floor goes down on the day you need it.

Questions we get asked
When can I turn the underfloor heating on?
Not straight away. The screed needs to dry first, then the heating is brought up slowly. Your plumber or the screed supplier will give the exact schedule.
Liquid or sand and cement over underfloor heating?
Both work. Liquid screed flows tight round the pipes and is quick over big areas. Sand and cement is the traditional all-rounder. We'll advise on site.
Do you do the insulation as well?
Yes. We lay bead screed, which goes over the service pipes as the insulation layer instead of boards, then the screed over the heating pipes on top.
